Our Wine Is Reaching New Heights

What better way to reward yourself at the top of a mountain than with a crisp glass of wine?

Well, that's how we roll, anyway. And while we know it can be a pain to carry a bottle up the mountain, High Camp Flasks really changes the game. Not only does it hold a whole bottle of wine, but it is insulated and the glasses are built into the flask, magnetic and detachable when you are ready to pour. Plus, when you reach the top of the peak, we know you are going to be very thirsty, and the more wine you drink, the lighter your pack will be on the hike back down.

Our wine is really reaching new heights these days, and this photo was taken at the top of Black Bear Mountain in the Adirondack Park, at 2,454 feet of elevation. It's close by to one of our favorite places to camp, Brown Tract Pond (I will write about the glory of that camping spot and include some photos in a later post). The moderate hiking trail boasts gorgeous views of some of the surrounding lakes, high peaks in the distance and sea planes flying in the clouds overhead.

What's in our flask? This hike, we took one of my favorite everyday sips, Argiolas Vermentino. It's bright, citrus notes and high acidity complemented the fresh mountain air on a warm (and sweaty) day in the ADK quite nicely. Brian and I got a chance to sit on a rock, take in the views and enjoy a glass (okay, maybe the whole bottle) of wine at the top of the peak before we made the trek back down. Cheers!
