The Bea family has been in the hills of Montefalco, Umbria since at least the 1500's. Now run by Paolo's son, Giampiero, the estate is focused on farming and winemaking using as little intervention as possible while making incredibly expressive wines. Made with the local grape of Montefalco called Sagrantino, this wine undergoes a 40-50 day maceration, followed by a year in stainless steel then 2 more in large format Slavonian oak. Sweet spice, cloves, violets, ash, this is a wine not to be missed.
