Bernard Baudry founded his estate in the early 80's after attending viticulture school in Beaune. His son Mathieu is now running the estate (under the watchful eye of his father). The Baudry's farm 32 hectares in Chinon from which they make precise, textured Cabernet Franc. This wine is from the legendary La Croix Boissee vineyard which sits above the winery and Vienne river, planted on Clay and Tuffeau. The wine spends 2 years in used Bordeaux barrels and a further 1 in concrete. Ripe, dark fruit with fresh cut herbs and purple flowers, this is about as classic as Chinon gets.
