Just 20 minutes south of Vienna, the Stadlmann family has been tending vines in the Thermenregion since the late 18th century. Bernhard Stadlmann, the 8th generation took over from his father in 2006 and is dedicated to maintaining the traditions of his family. While most of the Gruner in Austria is grown on Loess, the Limestone soils of the Thermenregion are perfect for making elegantly mineral, salty, chalky Gruner, which is complimented by classic white pepper, melon and cut herbs.
