The Rovellotti family has deep roots in Ghemme, going back to at least the late 15th century. Antenello Rovellotti still makes his wines in a 10th century walled compound that was previously used to protect the villagers in times of war. Their vines are planted in the Baraggiola subzone, the furthest south in the appellation. 90% Nebbiolo and 10% Vespolina, this is classic Piemontese wine with bottle age. Dried leaves, red fruit, blood orange, spice and crushed flowers. Ready to drink now or hold for a few more years to see what else develops.
