Located in the village of Benais, just east of Bourgeuil, the Gauthier family makes some of the purest Cabernet Franc in the Loire Valley. Known as a vigneron's vigneron, Pierre Gauthier makes Joir de Soif as a quaffable, bistro style Cabernet Franc to be drunk while waiting for the single parcel wines to come around. This wine comes from vines planted to clay-limestone in Benais, it's fermented naturally and spends a few months in stainless steel before bottling. With a bouquet of purple flowers and dark fruit, the palate is structured but inviting. A great wine for a simple weekday meal.
