Jean Foillard took over his father's estate in 1981 and the rest is history. Cementing the estate in the so-called 'Gang of Four,' along with Lapierre, Breton and Thevenet as vignerons eschewing the use of chemicals in the vineyard, Foillard makes wines of place and purity. Foillard's Côte du Py comes from 8.6 hectares in the famed vineyard with vines as old as 90 years. The grapes are highly selected in the vineyard, with only the cleanest and healthiest making it into the wine which spends a 6-9 months in used barrels sourced from Burgundy. Dense and dark with a lithe freshness and distinct minerality, this is a wine not to be missed. Drink it now or cellar it for a few years.
