Founded in the Swiss region of Zug in 1870, Etter is now in it's 4th generation of distillers. The Etter family only made cherry brandy, Kirsch, until 1981 when they started to branch out. It's still Kirsch for which they're known. Aging in glass reveals a depth of fruit flavor that could be lost with oak aging. There are about 15 pounds of Vowi sour cherries in this bottle, all grown in 2011, and placed in glass demijohn to age for years to intensify the flavor. Bright cherry, sweet tobacco and white flowers all unfold in the glass, but the flavors multiply given time to breathe.
