Sugarcane was introduced to Guyana by the British in 1640 and at one point there was over 300 distillers making rum from the crop. Today, there is only one, Demerara Distillers, makers of El Dorado Rum. This 5 year rum is aged at least 5 years in oak before bottling. Perfect for a cocktail, mixed drink or just on the rocks.
