The Chave family has been making wine in the Rhone Valley since 1481, that's 16 generations. Relocating to their current location due to Phylloxera in the 19th century, they take a parcel by parcel approach to their farming and winemaking alike. Jean-Louis Chave took over in 1992, continuing his families legacy. The Hermitage is a blend of several parcels across the hill that are farmed meticulously by the Chave team. Soaring from the glass, dried violets, white pepper, orange rind all float over a backbone of cassis and freshness. Not like any other wine in the world, the Hermitage needs to be tasted to be understood.
