Botanica wines was founded by American, Ginny Povall when she purchased a flower farm dedicated to growing Protea, the national flower of South Africa. She soon planted a few hectares of vineyards, which are all farmed organically. This is a Bordeaux blend, made up of a majority Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot rounding out the blend. It has a few years of bottle age at this point which has rounded out the edges to reveal a pretty, soft wine with cassis, cedar, cigar box and smooth tannin. A real value for a Bordeaux alternative with age.
