Dirk Niepoort runs his family's Port House, one of, if not the best family owned Port producer in all of Portugal. In 1987, Dirk purchased the Napoles winery that focuses on dry wines, now making up about 75% of their total production. This is a blend of native Portuguese white grapes from high altitude vines ranging from 65 to 85 years old framed organically. The wine spends 8 months in older oak on the lees before bottling. Think White Burgundy for a fraction of the price, flinty mineral, crisp orchard fruit and bright citrus.
