Blueberry wine, but not as you know it. R.A.S. Wines makes Source Decay from wild Maine blueberries grown by the Brodis family near Hope, Maine, where they’ve farmed the fruit for more than 150 years. The berries are hand-harvested, fermented on their skins, aged in used oak, then given a second fermentation in bottle using the traditional sparkling method. Dry and elegant, with tart blueberry, baking spice and an earthy herbal edge, it’s lively, complex and anything but ordinary. With only 50 cases produced, this is Maine-terroir-meets-traditional-bubbles. A really cool bottle to find, if you ask us!
